Open Question: Why doesn't american airlines offer flights that take you straight into vietnam without switching flights?

When I went to vietnam I had to switch to an japan airlines at tokyo narita airport to get to ho chi minh city vietnam and on the way back I went on vietnam airlines to get to tokyo narita.
